On lui attribue notamment l\u2019invention du genre musical du \u201cconcerto grosso\u201d, dans lequel un petit nombre d\u2019instruments solistes dialoguent avec un orchestre qui les accompagne. Sa vie tumultueuse, pav\u00e9e de quiproquos, d&rsquo;infid\u00e9lit\u00e9s, de peu prudentes affaires avec des femmes mari\u00e9es \u00e0 des hommes puissants, d&rsquo;arnaques, de d\u00e9tournement des fonds du Vatican et de tentatives d&rsquo;assassinat, est le sujet d&rsquo;op\u00e9ras comme de romans.
